A bioterrorist event should activate an effective overall response plan in a healthcare or hospital facility in order to manage resources and allow the facility to provide the best services possible under extraordinary circumstances. Students will learn to recognize the signs of a bioterrorist event. Federal, State, and local response agencies/programs will be discussed to promote awareness of sources for rapid support and supplementing of facility resources and staff. Recommendations on communication, logistics, psychological aspects, laboratory support, decontamination, post-mortem, and a variety of other subjects are also covered.
Course Objectives:
1. Learn to recognize the signs of a bioterrorist event.
2. List and describe the various resources available at the Federal, State, and Local levels.
3. Describe the various areas within the healthcare or hospital facility and the recommended response of each to a bioterrorism event.Sections:
