Approximately 11,000 Americans experience a spinal cord injury each year. Students will receive an excellent overview including a discussion on signs, symptoms, and causes. Readers will gain an increased awareness of this injury through discussions on complications, treatments, and preventative measures. Recommended methods of assisting someone suspected of a spinal cord injury are also presented.Course Objectives:
1. List and describe the signs and symptoms of spinal cord injury.
2. Recognize and explain the causes and mechanisms of spinal cord injury.
